Harry Potter was raised in a quite normal environment. He lives with the Dursleys; a mean, ornery family of Muggles (non-wizards) who Harry just happens to be related to. His own parents were killed in an accident with Lord Voldemort when Harry was just a wee one. He miraculously survived.
