Welcome to your Arithmancy class! Arithmancy
- which is also known as Numerology - is the study of the meanings of numbers,
especially as they relate to your date of birth and to your name.
The two most important numbers in Arithmancy
are your birth path number, also known as your life path or birthday number, and
your birth name number, which is your destiny number.
Your birth path number, which gives you
insight in how to fulfill your purpose in life, is taken from the month, day,
and year in which you were born.
The first rule of Arithmancy is that every
number is reduced to a single digit. So to find your birth path number, you add
all the numbers in your birthday together... would anyone like to
volunteer?
Anyone?
Ah, thank you, Miss Scriye. When is your
birthday? ... Ah. Miss Scriye was born on September 09, 1984, so her
calculations would look like this:
| Month |
+ Day |
+ Year |
= Birth Path Number |
| 9 (September) |
+ 9 |
+ 1 + 9 + 8 + 4 (1984) |
= 40 (9 + 9 + 1 + 9 + 8 +
4) |
So the birth path number is 40. Does anyone
see what's wrong with that number?
Yes, very good, Miss Granger. Each number
must add up to one digit. So to reduce 40 to a single-digit number, add the two
digits together: 4 + 0 = 4.
Before we get into the meanings of the
numbers, let's discuss the formulation of the other number we mentioned: the
birth name number. Your name, or destiny number, represents your purpose in
life. Again, all numbers must be reduced to a single digit, with the exception
of the master numbers: 11, 22, and 33.
Do I have a volunteer willing to let the
class use their name? ... Miss Granger! Thank you.
Use this table to find the value of each
letter. Remember, you must use your complete name: the name you were given at
birth, and not a nickname. If you have a middle name, use that, too.
